I always wondered if there are better ways to clean interior walls of the house because. We clean the floor and rest of the house quite regularly but what about the interior walls? Unless we clean interior walls, we can’t even imagine making our house aesthetic and look good.

As part of my effort to clean interior walls of my house, what I used to do is dust it occasionally and let it be. Last to last week only a friend of mine visited my place and shared some amazing tips and ideas to clean interior walls easily. Since then, I have been using these techniques to clean internal walls of my house and am I happy. Oh yes.

Walls are the main part of our home; obviously because the entire roof stands on these gigantic and concrete substance, which makes a home look and truly feel like a complete shelter.. When it comes to privacy, walls not only guard your private life against the rest of the world, but it also guards you within the house by help you create rooms, each serving different purposes. So, after getting a pretty good idea about a wall’s utility and how well it serves us, hope from now onward you will pay attention to cleaning the interior walls of your house regularly.

You cannot apply any random method on your walls, first assess the type of paint you have applied and then choose the right method to clean interior walls. For instance- If your walls have been coated with glossy enamel or semi glossy paints, then it wouldn’t be difficult for you to clean them. But, on the other hand if your walls are painted with flat, satin, and eggshell latex paints, then they may fade or rub off with overly abrasive cleaning. Start with Dusting the walls

Have you ever noticed your ceilings when not brushed for months with a tall broomstick? You can use a duster to wipe the dust sticking to the walls and a broom to clean the cobwebs.

Did you know that you can make your own wall cleansers using basic ingredients that are already available in your kitchen? You can use these solutions to clean internal walls of all types, in every room. Here are various solutions that you can make to clean interior walls of your house.

Vinegar for cleaning

White vinegar is an item that is not just easily available in anyone’s home or in the market, but this item can be effectively used to clean almost anything in your home. You can use vinegar to clean the stains of your bathroom tiles and accessories, as well as the stains on your walls. Add one-fourth of white vinegar into one-quarter of warm water. Then wet a washcloth with the solution and gently rub your walls. To make the solution work more effectively, store the solution in a spray bottle and spray it directly on stubborn spots on your walls. After that gently wipe the wall with a sponge or a cloth, and let the wall dry.

Baking Soda Scrub

Other than making or preparing wall cleaning solutions, you can also make an effective wall cleaning scrub using baking soda. Baking soda is also one such item that can be used as an all-purpose cleaner in your home. Therefore, you can surely use this solution to remove stubborn grime from your walls, especially your kitchen walls. The scrub can be used safely on painted walls or on ceramic tile kitchen backsplashes. To make the scrub add one tablespoon of water in one-fourth of baking soda, and keep combining them unless the paste is formed. Then gently scrub this mixture on your walls clean with a rag, followed by wiping it separately with a wet cloth to remove the scrub’s particles. This solution can easily remove stains made by crayon, pencil, marker pens, or any other marks made from items that have rubbed against the wall.

Turpentine oil

Most of them might not know about this; but turpentine oil can be used to remove stains very effectively. Mix turpentine and table salt in equal parts to make a highly effective cleaning aid. Apply small amounts onto the strained areas and allow about 20 minutes for it to work. You can then scrub over the solution using a brush for increased efficacy, then rinse it off with water. Re-apply if need be. The turpentine based stain remover will clear up the yellowish areas and other stubborn stains. You can use this mixture for your kitchen walls, because the kitchen walls sustain more stains, and this mixture is very much effective on tiles.

Toothpaste

Shocked? But it’s true. Toothpaste can be used to clean your walls, not just your teeth. Toothpaste is effective and can easily clean up the stains on your walls, especially those made using crayons by your little ones. Using this method is very easy, just buy a tube of non-gel toothpaste, and a rag or a scrub brush. Squirt the toothpaste on the wall and start scrubbing it gently. The fine abrasive in the toothpaste will rub away the crayon. Then rinse the wall with water. If the stains have been there for ages, then it might take up some time for cleaning.

Use hairspray

It may sound bizarre, but you can actually use your hair sprays to clean the walls effectively, especially those marks made by ink. All you need to do is moisten a ball of cotton wool with hairspray, and rub it gently over the ink blemishes.

Methylated spirits

Methylated spirits can easily help you fight the stains sustained on your walls. To use this as an ingredient to clean the walls, add 1 part of methylated spirits to 10 parts of water, in order to make a solution. After preparing the solution dip a cleaning cloth into the mixture and wipe over the stained area, until and unless the stain has lifted. After wiping it, gently rinse the surface with a damp cloth.

Use washing soda

If your stains are very stubborn, then you’ll need to make a stronger wall cleaning solution. This can be made at home by following an easily method. Mix together 100g of washing soda with 4 liters of water, and prepare the solution. After preparing this solution, wipe the dirty wall area with this mixture, rinse off, and then towel dry the wall.

Heat treatment to clean wall stains

Yes, heat can help you clean your wall stains. How? It’s quite simple. Just buy an absorbent paper and hold it against the stain, and then use something which will provide heat to the paper, such as a small pot warmed on the stove. Avoid using an iron, because it can be hectic for you to hold both the items (absorbent paper and iron) together, and the electrical wire of the iron might not be flexible enough to reach the stained spot on your wall.

Use cornflower or talcum powder: You can use a paste of cornflour or talcum powder with a little water, and smear this paste onto the stain. Then let it dry and brush away gently.
